Abstract

Humanism has been one foundational piece in the construction and development of modern social sciences. However, different historical events and theoretical movements, such as Actor-Network Theory and current, fast deployment of technological cultures and forms of life have prompted a view of human society as also resting on the active participation of non-human agents.Abrief presentation of this radical shift is here followed by an introduction of the more general features of these new post-humanisms. We understand that they are nor structuralist or hermeneutic and that, with them, human beings are not denied but seen from another, more complex and less selfish, perspective. Finally, we face some of the critiques advanced against this posthumanist perspective.
