Abstract

In the field of the analysis of culture, the theory of omnivorousness holds that aesthetic tastes have overcome the mono-legitimist outline based on the hierarchical distinction between high culture and popular culture, becoming more and more tolerant and varied each day. In this paper, parting from the analysis of musical practices in Spain, in the context of the growing diffusion of the mediated autidition, we study the evolution of the musical preferences; and we outline the concept of regime of cultural consumption (musical, in this case) as an analytical tool which is more complex and adequate than omnivorousness.
