La ciudad en la historia: comparación, análisis y narración en la sociología histórica de Max Weber

  • Ramón Ramos Torre

Abstract

This paper analyses Max Weber’s «The City» from a methodological point of view. This Weberian text is a case of radical and appearently selfsufficient comparative social research that shows paradigmatically the limits of a pure comparative historical sociology. To make it more intelligible a threefold path is followed: the first shows the results and limits of its dominant comparative strategy; the second reveals its analytic strategy; the third shows its deep narrative structure. The final proposal is that it is only possible to make it completely inteligible if one takes into consideration the three strategies and their combination
