La formación del politólogo: un análisis de la oferta académica en España

Keywords: Political Science, academic training, the Bologna process

Abstract

Within this monograph dedicated to the professional work of political scientists, this article addresses a key issue: academic training. Specifically, the historical development of Political Science in Spain is examined, as well as the current situation of its teaching, providing new empirical evidence. To this end, a content analysis of the information on university degrees in Political Science and their curricula has been carried out. The results of the analysis yield three main conclusions. Firstly, the remarkable transformation of political science education since the implementation of the Bologna Process, particularly in relation to the introduction of a new pedagogical model (student-centered and oriented towards more practical training) and the internationalization of training programs. Secondly, these general changes have, however, taken place at different speeds among Spanish universities (for example, variations with respect to internationalization and internship subjects). Finally, Political Science is experiencing strong competition from new university degrees with a strong Political Science profile.
