Abstract

In this interview to Professor Cristina Flesher Fominaya for the recent publication of her book Democracy Reloaded: Inside Spain’s Political Laboratory from 15-M to Podemos (2020 Oxford University Press). The dialogue focuses mainly in three topics.  First, considering the Indignados movement as a laboratory for political experimentation, a review of the last decade cycles of mobilization is made. Second, the complex context of the populism crisis is addressed, highlighting the mobilization dynamics and the learnings from the 15-M as a momentum for further and greater changes in the political system. Thirdly, we focused on the importance of the participative processes developed by social movements, the new subjectivities produced through movement cultural practices, and the complex relations between parties and social media, and their role in the democratization processes.
