La actualidad por encargo. Conceptos de la modernidad en el cine de Michael Winterbottom
Abstract
Michael Winterbottom's cinema (Blackburn, 1961) is furrowed by basic concepts that describe the reality of what we name late modernity, liquid modernity or postmodern era. The distinction and analysis of these elements constitute the axis of the present article. We move away, so, from the purely cinematographic investigation to enter the area of the net sociological thing. From his last movie, A Mighty Heart (2007), We´ll think about the original motivations of the same one, about how this director tries to be independent inside a cinematographic field increasingly limited by economic or cultural interests, or what concepts of the modernity characterize all his movies. The complexity of his production us makes this study possible, since his work stands out for the condensation of topics, for the existence of diverse levels of reading, for the metaphors that are projected in each of his movies and that refer to the global world of which we form a part. Because Michael Winterbottom's cinema excels for portraying the social and political realities of the globalization and of its contradictions.Downloads
