Abstract
This research offers a comparative study between Spain and Japan on disaster risk reduction, focusing on two concepts that we consider fundamental: preventive culture and disaster risk management, considering all the education (formal, non-formal, and informal) as an essential link between these concepts. The selection of Japan for comparison with Spain responds to its consideration as an international benchmark, its disaster risk management system, which includes education for disaster risk reduction, and the more significant development of Japanese preventive culture compared to Spain.
