Abstract
Published by Mexico's INBAL (Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura), this book presents the results of a group of researchers working in Mexico at various academic institutions who have come together in the Permanent Seminar on Art and Culture Research Mexico-Japan. This multidisciplinary collective work consists of eight essays on subjects as diverse as early Japanese Christianity, the plastic arts (painting and sculpture), the performing arts, audiovisual culture and education. Specifically, the topics covered by the various authors are, in order of appearance: the trajectory of Japanese artists living in Mexico Tamiji Kitagawa, Shinzaburo Takeda and Kishio Murata; the avant-garde movement of Mono-ha, the problem of migration in audiovisuals, otherness in the films Roma and Shin-Gojira, the theatrical dramaturgy of Sacbé Rojo, the relationship between the Christian rosary and the Buddhist juzu and the teaching of Japanese culture in the Mexican context. The publication is bilingual Spanish-Japanese.
