Abstract

The objective of this work in progress is to verify that content analysis with software tools can be valid for identification and analysis of social representations as understood by the Social Theory of Communication. We analyze texts writ ten by people with Borderline Personality Disorder to try to identify the social representations. These texts are messages (post) written in an online community forum called soyborderline.com. As a starting assumption it is considered that the virtual community soyborderline.com is a mediating element with functions of both the mass media and the peer groups. Being a new methodological approach several questions have aroused, which can only be verified later in the course of the investigation.
