The vertical emancipation of philosophical orientation
Abstract
One of the most widespread criticisms of philosophical counselling in academic environments is that its sessions are normalizing and pay homage to productivist and individualist ideologies. This argument conflicts not only with Gerd Achenbach’s works, one of the world's first philosophical counsellors, but also with the theories and work of the leading theorists in the field. This paper aims to analyse the legitimacy of this condemnatory judgement by examining the thinking of three prominent national and international theorists: Ran Lahav, Mónica Cavallé and Nacho Bañeras. On this basis, the emancipatory possibilities of these philosophical encounters will also be explored.
