¿Brujos y magos en el Kalevala?
Abstract
The Kalevala, apart from being the Finnish national epic, constitutes a splendid example of Finno- Ugrian folklore –completely unknown in our country– where is possible to recognize the shamanistic past of the Siberian native peoples. However translations, carried out from the end of nineteenth century, reflect a reality which is far from the idea of shamanhood, currently almost secondary or even inexistent. The main goal of this paper is to demonstrate that under those wizards and magicians are hidden true shamans with their instruments, rites, and journeys to the Other World.Downloads
