Abstract

The article develops the four following theses: at least until the end of the 17th century in India and in Europe there was philosophical reflection on identical subjects; in Indian and Western thought are found in equal numbers and under similar forms manifestations of irrationality, lack of intellectual freedom and submission to interests alien to philosophy; there was an Indian philosophy, and the comparison between Indian and Western thought must have as a terminus ante quem the 17th century. Some examples of coincidences between Indian and Western thought are presented. The authors mention other works in which they have exposed these same ideas in a wider form.
