The Alastors in Classical Greece: Revision and Syntactic-semantic Considerations
Abstract
The alastors (ἀλάστορες) in Ancient Greece were divinities charged with avenging bloody crimes. The purpose of this paper is to review the proposed etymological hypotheses, to collect the ritual information that corresponds to them and to provide a novel analysis from the point of view of syntax and semantics in order to establish the consideration that the Greeks gave to these beings.
