Daughters of Gebelawi: The ‘Promised Land’ and the ‘chosen people’ seen from the difference
Abstract
In this paper I analyze Nayib Mahfuz’s novel, Children of Gebelawi, from the perspective of the female characters, especially in reference to two central elements of the neighbourhood of the monotheistic religions: the Promised Land and the chosen people. Through the female characters the author retrieves a more comprehensive memory of human civilization.Downloads
