In cimiterio: dos cánones pseudoiliberritanos relativos al culto martirial
Abstract
The vocabulary and the contents of the pseudoiliberitan canons 34 and 35 are examined. An analytical and comparative exegesis carried out proves that both concern practices related to the martyrial cult: candles daily lighting in cemeterial churches, and feminine presence in natalitial vigils also in such churches. The form cimiterium that both normative texts share, as well as the prohibitions formulated in one and another, allow to date them since late fourth century on. Moreover, the conclusions achieved for these two canons also contribute to a better knowledge of the genesis and structure of the compilation in which they are included.Downloads
