Oikos y oikonomia: El análisis de las unidades domésticas de producción y reproducción en el estudio de la Economía antigua
Abstract
This article analyses the words oikos --that designs the basic unit of production and reproduction in ancient Greece-- and oikonomia --the knowledge that studies it and the origin of the word "economy"--. After discussing the application of current economic categories for the study of economy to ancient societies, we propose the recovery of both terms and the utility of domestic production and reproduction --and thus, gender relations-- as categories of analysis for a comprehensive study of Greek economy.Downloads
