Christ and Posca: A Matter of Vocabulary
Abstract
The Gospels and the Apocrypha say that Roman soldiers gave something to drink to Christ when he was crucified: wine, or vinegar, or posca. Posca was a famous drink among soldiers; but every people liked drink it. Normally pleasant and thirst-quenching, it was also used as a medicine.
