Abstract

The paper aims to define some foundations of the historical Anthropology of the ancient world in a single concrete experience. The first section reconstructs the intersections between an Italian path of research and French tradition from the end of the Sixties to the present time, on a historiographical point of view. In the second section, the method of the historical Anthropology is applied in the field of Homeric studies. Formularity, Typicity in the epic poems are examined as characteristic forms of expression of an oral civilization. Some new concepts and notions are so introduced under the general category of the epic iteration. On the side of the forms of the reality emerges the phenomenon of the diachrony of civilization.
