Abstract

The Dr. Karen Danielson, known as Karen Horney, was a psychiatrist with a great intellect, who dared to break with the psychoanalytic theory of Freud. She managed to create one of the best theories of neurosis, giving special attention to the study of female psychology and the influence of cultural aspects in the first half of the twentieth century, when women were still waking up from social slumber that had been submitted by macho culture.
