La tipografía ilegible. Los alfabetos afásicos y las letras mutiladas de Ana Sánchez
Abstract
The plastic work of Ana Sanchez departs from and returns to writing and in the meanwhile the written word rebirths embodied with iconic value after having been deprived of the representative one. Thus her basic medium are texts –always found− which are submitted to long and meticulous processes (games, as she would refer to them) of cutting to the extent of rendering them unrecognizable; letters are located again on a surface creating a kind of strokes which suggest illegible texts. Her work defies our gaze because we look at writing and image differently due to the way in which we perceive the visible. Her series epitomize the significance of writing in contemporary art in keeping with the restored and dignified writings of Post structuralism framework theories. Besides, her work implies an opportunity to study concepts such as the find, the recuperation, the game, the collage, or the censorship in the context of art.Downloads
