“Palabras y pinceladas. Las relaciones entre la pintura y la escritura en la obra de Adriana Assini
Abstract
The present work aims to serve as an introduction to Adriana Assini’s work, so as to establish relations existing between painting and writing, two forms of expression she used as a contribution to the debate on the representation of women throughout history. Adopting the Horatian maxim, the Roman artist introduces herself as “a painter who writes and a writer who paints” and bestows upon both the word and the image, the same function, the narrative one. Both artistic disciplines have an analogical relationship where parallelisms are clearly evident, yet their differences become more obvious as the foundations which give rise to each discipline are analyzed: painting emanates from fantasy whereas literature is the result of a rigorous critical study.Downloads
