La enfermedad de la ciudad. Una mirada a la literatura vírica

Abstract

This article offers a review of some works of the viral literature to expose the ways in which the notion of contagion is approached. Through an examination of some classic works about epidemics and, later, of some stories from the 20th century, the article presents the dichotomous pairs that are formed around the disease: inside-outside and proper-improper. The writing of the contagion reveals its persistence by the search for the origin and, in that attempt, the production of an exteriority that, nevertheless, belongs to the story. However, if the viral literature from its etiological approach produces narratives based on dichotomous thought, it also has an ability to stand on the sidelines and express the weaknesses that accompany dichotomous logic
