1480: A year at the court of Isabella I of Castile
Abstract
The accounts of the treasurer of Isabella I of Castile Ruy López de Toledo corresponding to 1480 provide very precise information on luxury spending, the daily life of the queen, and the payments made at the Castilian court that year. The aim of this work is to publicize for the first time in a global way the content of these unpublished accounting records. This information refers to a year as important in the queen's life as 1480, marked by the end of the war against Portugal, and the apotheosis of a triumphant and restored monarchy that was intended to be projected from the ceremonial display and of the political events that took place, especially during the court's stay in Toledo.
