The first two majordomo’s books of Moron de la Frontera (1436-1480). The accounts of Morish border
Abstract
The municipal finances of many of the Andalusia towns located in the so-called Moorish Border were characterized during the 13th to the 15th centuries by the high expenses destined to the defence −active and passive− of the frontier of Granada. Morón de la Frontera is a good model and example of these frontier tax structures. The city preserves in its excellent Municipal Archive two interesting account books of the council (1436-1480) that provide the medieval researcher with invaluable information. In this work some conclusions are advanced about the aforementioned municipal investments for the defence of the town and its term and future research is also proposed in this regard.
