Abstract

The King Alphonse the Magnanimous’ triumphal entry into Naples on February 26, 1443 is one of those moments in History that were marked for posterity not only due to the importance of the event itself, but for the whole display of messages in symbolic key. Although analysed by various authors from different points of view, few interpretations of the codes implicit in the clothing of the participants in the ceremony have been provided to date. The present article provides an interpretation based on the different sources that described the entry, as well as on recent contributions of Dress History.
