Citizens' Right to Information and Terrorism as an Attack on Freedom of Information

Abstract

Terrorism seeks shock and fear. If journalists incorporate fear into their professional activity, their right to information is limited. Journalism demands freedom to be such. Without freedom, there is no journalism. Journalists must report freely and avoid becoming a sounding board for terrorists. In several countries around the world, journalists are killed or threatened by terrorist groups. Now that the terrorism of the Eta gang disappears from our lives, now that journalists do not have to report on murders, kidnappings or street violence, now that journalists in Spain are beginning to be able to report freely, it is worth remembering that this was not always the case and reconstructing the times in which the fear caused by terrorism exercised as deputy editor-in-chief. as tremendous as it is invisible, in the newsrooms of the Spanish media.
