Journalists or spokespersons
Abstract
Only 15 articles of the Spanish Constitution of 1978 – out of the 169 that compose it – are dedicated to recognizing the fundamental rights of citizens and one of them is the one that makes journalism, and therefore the journalist, a profession worthy of protection. Just two lines that make up Article 20(1)(d) of the Constitution give meaning to the work that those of us who work in this old profession do every day. The article determines the importance of this profession so often reviled, and therefore recognises and protects, among other rights, the right contained in paragraph 1 (d): "To freely communicate or receive truthful information by any means of dissemination..."
