The impact of Law 7/2010, General Law on Audiovisual Communication, on the regulatory change of Radio Televisión de Galicia
Abstract
(General)Law 7/2010 for Audiovisual Communication resulted in the repeal of the Law ruling the Spanish Autonomus (Regional) Channels, leaving a regulatory vacuum in the management of regional public broadcasters. This situation is added to the fact that in his inaugural speech, Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy has announced a legal reform to enable new models of management of these public broadcasters. Against this background, some laws that regulate the regional media are being radically altered. The most recent law has been that of Galician Radio Television Broadcasting in order to adapt itself to European Community and Spanish legal landscape. The purpose of this paper is to settle if this new law has followed the trail marked by the European audiovisual policy and especially by the General Law 7/2010 for the Audiovisual Communication in Spain.
