Abstract

 

The present study describes some of the tense relations between the media system and the judicial system in contemporary age. In a Media society, it becomes difficult to reconcile the different logics that characterize the functioning of courts and the functioning of media, a fact that hás contributed to increasing the conflict between two different domains. If, one the one hand, journalism, especially investigative reporting, plays an important role to the ilumination of Justice and of many criminal cases, on the other and, the freedom of the press imposes itself on other constitutional rights. This work is a contribution to the understanding of the relations between media and Judicial systems in the portuguese context.
