The protection of copyright by the Intellectual Property Commission
Abstract
Recent technological, economic and social changes have made a huge pressure on the traditional
model of intellectual property and the management of copyright in the Spanish legal system. The
importance of protecting creative activities requires, therefore, to rethink the model from the
basis, coherently with current European law in the area.
For these reasons, in this paper we give an account of the most important provisions in
administrative law, bearing in mind that it is essential to ensure that the copyright is protected
effectively, especially in Internet, and fostering a respectful use of intellectual property that
highlights the value of the contents, and the importance of defense and protection.
