investigative journalism and scandal: the publicity of private life
Abstract
The present study describes some of the characteristics of the world of information in contemporary age considering the tension between the media system and the justice system. If, on the one hand, journalism, especially investigative reporting, often contributes to the “ilumination” of Justice and Law, in other hand, the freedom of the press imposes on other fundamental rights. Through this way of thinking, the relation between private space, media sphere and juridical sphere assumes a particular outstanding relevance in this paper. Then we’ll try to understand the way investigative reporting changes itself into a muckraking journalism, publishing intimate information about celebrities and further increasing the trail of scandals in the media.
