Fake news: a Mexican legal perspective
Abstract
Although fake news is outside the limits of the freedom of expression, it is mandatory to rethink the legal implications in its creation, dissemination and spread. The current investigation aims to resolve the various scopes of fake news, from the perspective of the Mexican legal system. The applied methodology is qualitative with legal and journalistic epistemology. According to various academic classifications, a sample of twelve fake news, current national and international legislation on freedom of expression were selected and ordered for analysis in order to determine whether fake news should have any special regulations.
