Transmedia storytelling and copyright: a reflective view from the participation of Marvel´s social audience on Facebook and Youtube
Abstract
The phenomenon of the engaged culture has created a significant tension on a large number of legal mechanisms that seek to guarantee copyright. In this context, it is relevant to explore the applications made by followers and fans of a franchise to recognize which legal protection best adjusts to the reality of a transmedia narrative which is considered as that new dynamic of creation and dissemination of audiovisual products that involves the participation of the social audience. This research studies the collaboration dynamics of the social audience of the Marvel franchise on Facebook and YouTube in Peru, and calls attention to the need to recognize that production companies must think about content under the logic of Copyright and Creative Commons.
