Abstract

From the Report "La Familia en el Cine y las Series de 2020", developed by The Family Watch Foundation, together with METHOS MEDIA, some of the most significant consumption trends by audiences during that year are collected. This study was presented in the summer of 2021 and describes some of the basic indicators in relation to audiovisual content and the direction in which fiction has been moving towards in a year determined by the pandemic. Through a statistical analysis on the consumption of series and movies, some of the sociological and cinematographic keys of this media landscape and its relationship with families are described. Most of them recognize that their habits of use of films and series platforms have changed and that the time they spend consuming audiovisual content has increased. This study is a starting point for interpreting these data, reflecting on media freedom and the need for proper media literacy in Spanish families.
