An approach to Miguel Adrover: sustainability, anti-capitalism, multiculturalism, and national identity in Spanish fashion design
Abstract
This article examines the work of Spanish fashion designer Miguel Adrover (Calonge, 1965) through an interdisciplinary approach combining visual and discourse analysis. Drawing on his collections, media coverage, interviews, social media, and documentaries, it reconstructs his career. It explores the central debates that define his work: sustainability, anti-capitalism, multiculturalism (with a focus on Orientalism), and patriotism. Given the lack of academic research on Adrover, this study aims to establish a theoretical and critical framework for his work, positioning him as a key figure within contemporary fashion studies and as an example of the tensions between creativity, system, and politics in global fashion.
