Abstract
In this paper, the author reviews the main theoretical approaches to mediation in knowledge organizations. The methodology followed is one of documentary research that favours critical analyses and comparisons. One conclusion that is arrived at is there are ideas related to cognitive mediation underlying the theoretical views discussed. For this reason, the author proposes moving from a documental to a cognitive view of communication. Moreover, he argues that concepts derived from communication and cognitive theory should be incorporated to the theoretical framework of the Information Sciences.Downloads
