Usage habits and level of user satisfaction with Chinese news aggregators
Abstract
News aggregators have witnessed a significant rise in their presence within the media ecosystem of China, predominantly via mobile devices. These platforms have emerged as the primary channel through which citizens acquire news and information. The main objective of this study is to understand the usage habits of users engaging with these tools in the country, and to juxtapose these habits with the characteristics, functionalities, and services offered by these aggregators. Following the implementation of an online survey, which garnered 474 valid responses, the results show the profiles of Chinese users, the general usage habits, and the frequency with which various options within these applications are utilized. These findings aim to serve as a foundation for identifying opportunities to enhance the quality of service and user experience provided by news aggregators.
