Uruguay´s Cine Universitario Film Still Collection: The case of Documentary Analysis using Dublin Core Metadata Set
Abstract
The main objetive of this research (degree thesis) thesis was created a serie of procedures of documentary analysis of a sample of 40 film stills from the archive of Uruguay’s Cine Universitario using a metadata profile based on Dublin Core Metadata Set and Dublin Core Qualified.
Uruguay’s Cine Universitario is a cineclub founded in 1949. It has an Archive and a Library, which are closed to the public.The Archive has an estimated 22.000 film stills photographs. Film Stills are photographs taken on or off set of a film, TV project and theatre play with publicity propose. Fourty film stills photographs were chosen and divided in four categories: 1940-1949; 1950-1959; 1960-1969; 1970-1979. The author apply documental analysis to the film stills sample using a specific metadata profile created to this propose.
The final result was created procedures developed for each field (16 fields) describing how apply documental analysis to the film stills photographs.
