Analysis of the photograph of Pulso Diario de San Luis

Abstract

This article is derived from the doctoral thesis of the Doctorate in Journalism program of the Faculty of Information Sciences of the Complutense University of Madrid, the investigation entitled: “Photography as a representation of social reality: study of the photographic background of Pulso Diario de San Luis¨, shows the use that Editora Mival, responsible for the edition and publication of Diario Pulso, has given to photography in its editions from the appearance of the newspaper in 1988, based on the premise that photography is an element of vital importance and significance in the edition of the newspaper, as it influences the way in which the events of Potosí society, the country and the world are made known. The article presents part of the results of the analysis of the newspaper in the decades 1988, 1998, 2008 and 2018, of what has been the use of photography and how its use has been increasing in the different editions, as shown by the graphics resulting from the study; It reflects the importance and need to manage and preserve this type of document as a visual memory of the newspaper and as a heritage of society.
