Institutional photography: the perspectives of the archival records
Abstract
The discussion explored in this article is based on institutional photography produced by institutions, and its objective is to discuss the paths of archival treatment, as an organic archival record of institutions, that is, with the product of a function and the result of an activity. When we talk about the record and its implications for archival procedures, it is observed that photography is already understood as an archival record, however, it has not been satisfactorily inserted into document management, whose production is not seen as a trivial and integrated other activities, the concept of capturing reality still prevailing. We conclude that it is urgent to review the treatment carried out in various archival records that continue to identify institutional photography as an isolated and independent record, beginning to describe individually, thus losing its contextualization.
