Piedad Isla: photographic reports of the fifties years of XX century in "El Diario Palentino"-"El Día de Palencia"

Abstract

Piedad Isla (Cervera de Pisuerga, 1926 - Madrid, 2009), throughout his long life collaborated as a press correspondent for Agencia EFE, El Norte de Castilla and El Diario Palentino. This research synthesizes in a quantitative and qualitative way the first photographic reports that she made for the newspaper El Diario Palentino-El Día de Palencia. Because of the investigation, 3500 press articles were reviewed between 1953-1963 from the Palentino Journal. Through his consultation, we know that during that period he published 22 reports with a total of 39 photographs published on documentary, social, humanistic, ethnographic topics. Finally, the analysis of three reports from the fifties allows us to conclude that the photographer's eyes on the Palentina Mountain are not far from the pioneers of photojournalism in the Spanish postwar period.
