“Citizen Journalism”, a new phenomenon of journalism?
Abstract
The 21st century, which is characterized by the digital world and new social changes, allows citizens to take an active role in social communication, generating at the same time new ways of reporting both in the media and by virtual means. These changes together with the loss of credibility of the traditional media has generated the appearance of "citizen journalism", which means that any citizen can produce and disseminate information. This phenomenon is experiencing a great boom by the interactivity offered by new technologies. “Citizen journalism” inserts itself in an area that belongs to the professional journalist. Therefore, it´s interesting to delve into the "citizen journalism" in order to know if it has legitimacy and certain powers that correspond to a professional journalism or not.Downloads
