Abstract

Social work in mental health services has developed in a close relationship with two elements: the philosophy and community organization of Mental Health Centers and rehabilitation and continuity of care programs for the chronically severely mentally ill in its various care models. Said Rehabilitation and Continuity of Care Programs have been the axis upon which the community integration of the severely and chronically mentally ill has been anchored. Early intervention programs in psychosis are one of the primary challenges faced by community treatment programs for patients with severe mental illness. They presume a change in the methodology and philosophy of practitioners’ interventions, in our case, those of social workers. When the time comes for a referral made by a social worker in a Continuity of Care Program, we consider the intervention methodology supported by «goal-oriented or task-oriented Social Work».
