El capital social de las personas inmigrantes en el municipio de Pozuelo de Alarcón (Madrid)
Abstract
Currently, social workers and other professionals are facing new social challenges in professional intervention, the needs change and one of the most significant approaches is the work with the social network of immigrants. At the end of the twentieth century, the most significant trend in migration is the emergence of transnational communities known as «Diasporas». Transnationalism leads to the acquisition of multiple identities, where the country of origin and country of residence may be sources of identity and rights. The socio demographic profile corresponds to what Arango (2004), calls first-immigrants (primo inmigrantes). Bourdieu (1980) defines social capital as the aggregate of the actual or potential resources which are linked to possession of a durable network of more or less institutionalised relationships of mutual acquaintance and recognition.Downloads
