Abstract

This work describe a experience as result of the implementation of an employment policy for a population at risk of exclusion, which includes women older than 45 years of age seeking employment, experiences which are carried out by a non-profit organization. The attractiveness of this work is based on the efforts of the women who, despite being considered old within the productive apparatus, present themselves in a youthful manner with a spirit of change and a demonstration that they can begin, not without some effort and aided by policies, what will be the first step in the process of becoming part of the labor force. Although participation in this employment workshop was motivated by a desire for economic independence a revaluation of self-image and reduction in the effects of empty nest syndrome among others, adaptation and progress were not equal, not only due to stimuli but because in some cases it was not possible to overcome the resistance of an extremely domineering family environment which subverted the objective of this workshop, taking advantage of it only as a short-term economic benefit which could be extended. A great deal is said these days about the condition of women and their achievements, but to what point has their historical role Changed? And is it not merely more chores added to their traditional role? By accompanying this group of woman at the start of a long process, we share conclusions suggested by reflections en the experience.
