Abstract

This article describes how the use of methodologies based on artistic creation, from socio-affective, popular-education and decolonial-feminism perspectives, strengthen collective. knowledge-construction processes that promote spaces of development. Such methodological approaches become a reality by using tools including documentary and participative social photography as artistic and reflexive expressions. They promote group/community development experiences which may facilitate processes of exchange, not only from the bottom up, but also at a bidirectional level, breaking down power relationships that may happen in practice. The experiences presented, even if they do not seek to be generalizable, are an example of encouraging participation and empowerment as an intervention practice particular to social work, and therefore to international social work.
