Supervision in Social Service teams: an opportunity for reflection, thought and care of professionals
Abstract
The supervision and evaluation of professionals within Social Services teams in today’s context becomes an opportunity for reflection, thought and care. The practice of supervision in organizations operating within a complex society must be directed from a position of analysis of professional practice. Supervision understood as work in the larger sense lies at the interface between training, professional support and care. This has to be implemented and be directed from a position of freedom and neutrality on the part of the supervisor, who must be someone from outside the organization. Supervision is a process and a relationship that aims to review professional tasks and the feelings that accompany them, as well as to compare the theoretical framework with the daily practice of professionals.
This text also presents some ideas which are the result of doctoral research on oversight and social intervention and how these may contribute to the quality of care and well-being of social intervention or education professionals in their different areas of action.
