D. António Pinheiro: um testemunho jurídico-político na corte quinhentista portuguesa

Abstract

The figure of this Portuguese politician personifies the Portuguese humanism of the 16th century. Educated in Paris, when he returns to the Portuguese Court in 1540 he carries out diverse positions for the king, all of them related to the culture: in the real archives, visitor, Coimbra University reformer, a Princes educator or classical texts translator. His work can be classified in three groups: political texts, classical texts and other texts. All of them represent the 16th century legal-political theories.

La figure de ce politicien portugais personnifie l’humanisme de son pays au XVIème siècle. Instruit à Paris, lorsqu’il retournera à la cour portugaise dans 1540 il va occuper diverses charges pour le roi, tous en rapport avec la culture: à l’archive royale, visiteur, réformateur de l’Université de Coïmbre, éducateur de Princes ou traducteur de textes classiques. Son oeuvre peut être classée dans trois groupes : textes politiques, textes classiques et d’autres documents. Tous laissent voir les théories juridique-politiques du XVIème siècle.

Der portugiesische Politiker António Pinheiro verkörpert den portugiesischen Humanismus des 16. Jahrhunderts. Ausgebildet in Paris kehrt er 1540 an den portugiesischen Hof zurück und übernimmt für den König einige Aufgaben, die alle mit dem Kultus zusammenhängen: im königlichen Archiv, Gesandter, Reformierer der Universität Coimbra, Prinzenerzieher oder Übersetzer klassischer Texter. Pinheiros Werk kann in drei Gruppen unterteilt werden: politische Texte, klassische Texte sowie Varia. Durch all diese Schriften schimmern die juristisch-politischen Theorien des 16. Jahrhunderts.
