Abstract

In recent years the idea of linking the Ancient Ordinances for the Indians ―better known as the Leyes de Burgos of 1512― with the origins of the current legal category called «Human Rights» has spread. The present study is a historiographical review of the works published on the aforementioned «Laws» to conclude that any attempt to connect the Leyes de Burgos with Human Rights is reduced to a simple fallacy.
