The drafting of the law on Labour Relations of 1976. Women’s labour
Abstract
The history of women’s labour in the Spanish social legislation has been one of the most controversial issues in gender policies since the first law on that subject in 1900. Thus, women’s labour has become a central issue that has varied over time according to the regime or the political persuasion of the legislature, although the weight of patriarchy has always been present. This article will analyse the process of elaboration, discussion and voting of the articles related to women’s labour in the Law on Labour Relations of 1976, a rule that left the Francoism behind and gave way to democracy, which was consolidated with the Constitution of 1978.
